Last week we "strolled" over into Alabama and found these big rocks in the Little River National Preserve. This first one is called Umbrella Rock and as you can see it was right in the middle of the road. The other rocks were located just a few feet away. A few miles away is the town of Fort Payne (home of country singing group Alabama).
All your Fall Color-seeking trips make me want to find my way up there so bad! We had planned to go last week, but things just didn't work out. Oh well, maybe next year! In the meantime...I am really enjoying your photos!
Mama you have had some really nice fall pictures....I'm jealous! Hey why didn't you get any pecans while you were here...I forgot to ask you if you needed any. We have started harvesting. Gotta work today but off tomorrow. I'll call you. LOve u It has been nice & cool here.
Hello, I have just been looking at some of your photos, they are absolutely beautiful.I'm new to blogging and am still on a definite learning curve, lol.Ruthjen told me about your blog in particular your skywatch blog. Sorry I'm late posting Dot: These rocks are fantastic.. love the name.. I would like to read up on these formations, I'm sure they will hold much history
Glad to see you discoverd my "Eden" dot..This is where i return every year to shoot. there was probably very little if any water going over the falls. did you make it up to Little Rock City?? That brings back so many memories!!
Ooh, those are marvelous to see. Are they called pedestal rocks? There are some quite magnificent ones that look rather like these in our Ozark Mountains northwest of Little Rock.

Wow, these are beautiful. Looks like you had a good trip.
Those are as big as the rocks by my house...but not as mossy covered.
They remind me a little of Brimham Rocks in Yorkshire - same glacial deposits but without the trees you have.
Great photos on the last 3 posts Dot..!
You live in a beautiful place, and the weather looks perfect.
I came by way of Simply Nice - Ally said I must see your photos and I can see why!
Georgia is a beautiful state!
Cool rocks to climb... (love to do that with my boys...)

Could the rocks have been dropped there as the last ice age receded?
