Really nice photo of the bumblebee on the purple coneflower!

Are those wires holding up a telephone pole? I have one of those in my side yard. ;-)

Love the photo with the bee and flower~Is that another bee on the flower?

GranmaL August 18, 2008 11:45 AM

Wonderful flower and bees photo. It's hard enough getting one bee, but you got two! Good job!

Eduardo P L August 18, 2008 5:02 PM

Beautiful shots!

Leora August 18, 2008 6:10 PM

I love purple coneflower, and so do the bees! Your photo is lovely. And the wire photos clever (but yes, maybe you could have made two separate posts?)

Kerri August 18, 2008 6:49 PM

Don't be sorry! Sometimes we have to make it all "fit".
Glad you are participating in both.

I figured that it was holding something up...but didn't know what.

Your flower shot is GORGEOUS!!!!!

Gypsy at heart August 18, 2008 7:11 PM

A bee - up close and personal....about as close and personal as I would want to get only in a photo.
Nice pics.

Dot,

Good shot of the bumble bee - flower. I'm always amazed at pics like this because it's hard to catch the bees 'still' long enough.

Kahshe Cottager August 18, 2008 8:24 PM

We both went for the bees today! The contrast in colour between the bee and the flower is really nice - shows each off to full advantage!

I love the mama bee showing the baby how to de-nectar the flowers ... and I suspect it was a brace of some sort .. cleverly odd!

Dot: Your flower with the bees is really nice. You did a great capture on it.

Aileni August 18, 2008 10:11 PM

Very neat putting sheathing on the cables - might prevent cattle getting too fond of rubbing on a rougher surface.

Mike August 18, 2008 10:15 PM

Those wires look a little dodgy!

RuneE August 18, 2008 10:54 PM

Bingo!!

Fantastic close up of the flower with the bees on it. I love cone flowers. I get a lot of goldfinches on mine.

Jan August 18, 2008 11:36 PM

Yes, it's hard to fit it all in, some days; then other times, nada.

Love your flower photo, with the bees, large and small.

The close up, My guess was guy-wires, so I was close.

Lilli & Nevada August 18, 2008 11:58 PM

Great photos, i would join the flower shot but i don't do flowers all that good.

Paulie August 19, 2008 12:08 AM

Great odd shot -- it is fun taking parts of things like that. I got some shots of rides at the fair that are close up and personal like that. . . one day now that I am back to blogging again.

Beautiful flower with bees.

Paulie August 19, 2008 12:10 AM

Looking again, maybe that's an ant by the bee?

Christy August 19, 2008 12:11 AM

Look at the two bugs having a snack together. Very cool image. I thought the cables were possibly to a bridge but I was wrong.

piedmontperspective August 19, 2008 12:18 AM

Beautiful coneflower, Dot! Love the big fat bee. Your Odd Shot is great too.

Chrisss August 19, 2008 1:12 AM

Stephen August 19, 2008 1:40 AM

Great odd shot

nonizamboni August 19, 2008 1:45 AM

Such a beautiful closeup of the coneflower--would that be double dipping?
Nice post--thanks for sharing.
Happy week!

Exceptional quality in these photos, Dot. Wow.

Well, I went over and joined Luiz Santilli Junior's flowers group and planted some flowers and they are already in bloom at my new blog, Thunder Maker.

It looks like I am going to have to try and catch up with everyone. So many blogs to stop at and make comments.

Your support wires look in much better condition than the ones round here! Do those jackets keep them warm?

Marcos Santos August 19, 2008 3:24 AM

Gostei.

We have a wire almost exactly like that in our yard.

That is an awesome shot of the bee on the coneflower...

What a beautiful flower!

becky voyles August 19, 2008 6:48 AM

Never would have guessed what it was. Funny the difference the angle of shot can make. Thanks for your funny comment on my Mr. Potato Head. We went to Pratville, AL this weekend and ate at the Bass Pro Shop.

Rose August 19, 2008 6:53 AM

Love the shot of the cone flower/bee!

B. Roan August 19, 2008 7:04 AM

Very odd object, but great clarity!

Louis la Vache August 19, 2008 7:33 AM

Great combination of memes!

hehehehe

"Louis" guessed the anchors for the phone wires!

Carletta August 19, 2008 9:57 AM

Lovely crisp shot of the bee and flower!! Amazing.
The wire shot was well done as well.

I'm feeling the wrath of two memes in a day too!

Lawstude August 19, 2008 11:52 AM

Wow. Your capture never cease to amaze me. Great shot as always.

Have a nice day to you and your love ones.

A fine flower shot with that marvelous close up.
I like the puzzle of the cable too. Nice shooting.

Craver Vii August 20, 2008 1:33 AM

One might expect phone wires to be dull, gray and generic, but your closeup shows rich detail and vibrant colors. I especially like the crimson in the rust and the blues reflecting from the anchor.

Dick August 20, 2008 1:37 AM

Oh, fantastic picture of the bees.

Those things are used to hold a lot of things. If you see the part that's in the ground it looks like a drill bit so you just screw it into the ground. We put some on a swinging bridge to limit how much it could bounce.

Ida August 20, 2008 4:12 PM

BEAUTIFUL picture of the Rudbeckia! :)))
