Grave Site of Susan Hayward

This is Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church located near Carrollton, Georgia. Just a few yards from the church is the grave site of the famous actress Susan Hayward. She married a Carrollton man, Eaton Chalkley, in 1957 and they lived in Carrollton until his death in 1966. She died in Beverly Hills in 1975 and was buried next to her husband. Yes, I do search out the strange and usual.

Dot,
That's an interesting little church. It reminds me of a chapel attached to a place called Wisdom House in Litchfield, Connecticut. This was once a convent, and I believe the chapel was built in the late 1950s. It is similar in design and style. I like these places; they are inviting rather than overwhelming in the way that some contemporary church buildings can be.

I love Hayward films. She always seemed to be genuinely nice. Real. This is a beautiful place for her to rest.

The God it rests their souls. Really, she was a marvellous actor and very beautiful.
A symbol for her season, so much for the men and for the women.
We thank for small curriculum vitae

Beautiful church building. I knew Susan Hayward lived in Carrollton at some time but did not know she was buried there. Good research and good grave hunting.

I didn't know that about Susan Hayward. She was one of my favorite actresses years ago. I also liked Suzanne Pleshette who died this past weekend.

Dot,

That's a good photo, the next time that I'm in Carrollton, I'll try to get by there. I don't think these photos are so unusual, there are a lot of celeb's born and/or buried in Ga. Probably the 2 most famous/most visited gravesites being that of Margaret Mitchell and Duane Allman.

Susan Hayward was a great actress. I remember her best in "Smashup", "Ill Cry Tomorrow" and "I Want to Live".

What an interesting tidbit of information. When I visited Los Angeles years ago, I actually visited the Forest Lawn Cemetary where all the famous people are interred.

Hi. My mother actually grew up in Carrolton during the time Mrs. Hayworth Chalkley lived there. She said it was nothing to see Mrs. Hayworth Chalkley going about in town, buying seed or grain, just like anyone else. She didn't put herself above the locals, and wanted to be thought of as normal. I remember visiting her farm as a small child, and being told "This is where Ms. Hayworth lived...she was a famous movie star." I remember it being beautiful, rolling hills, pastures, and lots of grass.
