Plant Bowen
Traveling north towards Cartersville, Georgia I'm always fascinated when I see the stacks of plant Bowen looming in the sky. Plant Bowen (is not a nuclear power plant) but a coal-fired, steam-turbine electric generating facility located in Euharlee, GA. It's owned and operated by Georgia Power Company.

Well, what can be said. Useful but certainly not attractive.
I like the picture in the B&W it makes it look old and eerie.
Dot, you beat me to it. Monday night when we had to go to Manchester we passed the plant below Whitesburg. It was dark but I could see the plant and thought about going back down there and taking pictures but you beat me to it. LOL This is a great picture you captured. Well, now I have to think of somewhere else to go that Dot won't think of.
The shipyard has stacks like that-- I can see it from my apt window when I look west from the 8th floor.

I find nuclear plants fascinating too. We pass the Susquehanna PA plant and the steam rising from the stacks makes me imagine dragons breathing in a cave.

BW one of my favorite ways to share winter scenes. Nothing IMO says COLD more than BW outdoor shots.
Very neat picture! Whenever I travel through Cartersville, I am always facinated by the size of the Anheuser Busch plant! I guess all those power company folks need lots of refreshment?

We grow so accustomed to so many things of daily life. But do we really think on the 'how' of our use of them? Everyone wants to be 'green.' But how many want to cut back on their way of life, to be sure of it?
Many thoughts... Many questions... Brought up by this photo of yours... Thank you for posting it.

We have a nuclear power plant here where I live.
I think I like this photo better in B&W than if it was in colour. The B&W emphasises the industrialness of the place.

It looks rather ominous with all that steam and the hive-shaped stacks - like something out of an old movie!
I like your photo in b&w. All that smoke spewing from those smokestacks look scary. We have an Owen Cornings plant that spews out unknown stuff 24 hours a day.

Dot, I'm getting up and turning off the little space heater I have churching some warm air around my feet. That is some amount of effort that goes into maintaining my creature comfort!

The coal fired electric plant I worked on when it was built just west of Toronto, has been shut down and torn down. Ontario is commited to decomissioning all seven of its coal fired plants as they are such large polluters.
Such plants stand as symbols of industrialization.
I think the photograph is striking in many ways. It is a marvelous illustration of these plants. The B&W makes a strong point also: not much life there. Very powerful.
