Not long ago this piece of property was cleared off except for this old barn, an old shed you can see right behind it, and an outhouse. Someone must have hated to see them go. I've been watching to see what was going to develop. Recently I saw a tractor and several vehicles parked on the property. Since it's located just on the edge of a town I'm expecting these old buildings to be gone shortly and some new developement to take over. I'm glad I was able to get this picture.

A Thing of the Past
Not long ago this piece of property was cleared off except for this old barn, an old shed you can see right behind it, and an outhouse. Someone must have hated to see them go. I've been watching to see what was going to develop. Recently I saw a tractor and several vehicles parked on the property. Since it's located just on the edge of a town I'm expecting these old buildings to be gone shortly and some new developement to take over. I'm glad I was able to get this picture.

I feel the same way...these sorts of structures are fast disappearing. For one thing, farms are being replaced by subdivisions. It saddens me.
I love old barns and could take a picture of everyone I see.

I also think it is sad to see old farms disappearing and replaced by more subdivisions. One day there will be homes everywhere and no farm land to grow food or raise cattle, etc.

Well you know i love old barns, and old homesteads. It will be interesting to see what they will do with that property.

I have grown to love theseold wooden barns sinse I started blogging. I like ours made from old bricks but give me one of these for their beauty anyday. This one might be lost soon Dot but you have the proff it was there and looking like it belongs.
I thought it looked 'Right' in B&W, it made it look timeless.

I love pictures of old barns and this one is wonderful. I also liked that you did it in B&W, it just seems right. I'll be interested to see what happpens out there.
I hope progress does not mean cutting the trees. I am glad they left the barn, but if they are building a house...the barn will go next.
New developments are springing up all over here in UK!Such a shame to see open spaces taken over.

Our barn still stands, we even made steps up to the hat loft so the kids could get up their easier…Actually it was youngest daughter, many years ago that suggested we do that. And all of us helped…they still stand…We found the corner stone that dates our barn to @ 1901

This is a very nice photo. And putting it in black and white gives us the perfect notion that we might be seeing a little piece of a world that won´t come back.
I love black and whites of old clapboard barns and buildings. I think they have such character. They give my my imagination a little boost everytime I look at them.

It's really sad that one week the lovely old building with all its surrounding nostalgia and memories is standing and then a month later new condos are in its place.

Here in rural West Virginia I see a lot of old barns. It is sad so many are in deploring conditions. They really are history. Like some of your other visitors I like that you show in black and white.
Some days I feel like that old barn~worn, rough, aged, used, and most of all wise!
I am glad you got the pic too. It seems so sad that the old buildings have to go, but sadder yet was the fact that they were allowed to reach the way they look now..
You wondered about the barn on my blog as to what the house looked like and that barn was just out in the middle of all the property, so I wonder if maybe for now the people are living inside----somewhere. MB
I really like these old barns, they have so much character. We also have the scourge of developers in our city. One minute a historical building is standing, the next it is gone. We have laws protecting them, but as the consequenses for knocking them down are so small, it is easier the easier route.
