How lovely and I would not have guessed it could be as lovely!
still a beautiful picture....
One that I wouldn't have saw if you had not taken you picture...
Beauty is all around us..
thanks Dot.....
well it is still beautiful isn't it? Amazing how things have beauty after beauty. Wish that worked on me LOL
This is lovely even in its fading stage. Did you know that what is known as Queen Anne's Lace in the US is weed and grows in the wild in Hungary. :)
One man's treasure....
Cool how it curls up like it is protecting it's self.
How can you keep up with all those blogs? Nice picture, it is still beautiful.
Hi Dot. Your photographic eye is really very good. I looked at the B&W site also and you still win in my book for your subject selection. Pappy
This picture takes me back to
Deuteronomy 30: 18-20 (KJV)
18. I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
19. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20. That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
That is a really neat shot. You have such the eye. Hey add me to the black and white blog, I'll join.
Isn't that amazing how it folds up into that shape... very nice, Dot!

Wonderful photo .. at first I thought it was an Ilium either before or after it bloomed ..
Dot .. Troy & Martha did a post a few weeks ago and there was a photo of the same bug .. and it was labeled Widow Skimmer .. I clicked into my photo archives and compared the two .. identical .. voila .. mystery solved!
Thanks for the invite to the new photo blog!

What an unusual view this makes Dot... I was asked about the picture in my sky watch being of Queen Annes Lace... it's not and after seeing this I wonder if in fact we have this plant..
That is really cool how it curls up. Great shot.
Queen Anne's Lace is one of my favourites. I can't believe you have some going by already. I haven't seen any blooming yet. AHHH! Something to look forward to.
Hi Dot, The Queen Ann's Lace is still very beautiful. I like how it forms into a kind of globe. Great photo of it.
Dot: Looks like you had some problems. Nice capture an a pesky weed.
Thank you for telling me what that was~What a unique thing!
I don't count it as a weed but a wildflower that beautifies landscapes that are otherwise just unsightly weeds.
You do capture some really grand pictures. This is one of them.
Oh, how do I join the Black and White blog, and what would be expected of me if I joined, how often, etc?
so wonderful capture
A most interesting photo!
Dot,
I love that picture! I love Queen Anne's Lace in all the stages ! On past trips to Alabama I have gathered the Very Dead and dry remains of them to use in fall arrangements!

What a lovely photo!
I think our Queen Ann's Lace has a slightly different shape though... Ours are more flat.

Ooh, that's so cool to zoom way into that incredible little microcosm! From a distance, we see aesthetics, but way up close like this, we are more likely to see more. We notice purpose in the design.
"...more likely to see more." Yeah, I studied English (lol). Pardon my redundancy.
Queen Anne's lace is one of my all time favourites. They are just coming into flower here and I hope to get some for drying this year - I waited too long last year!
(I have posted an Ally Update on my blog.)
I love these plants. They grow all over here around Jerusalem too.
Andrea's comment is interesting--to imagine those verses being said to this plant instead of people.
Lovely
Very fascinating.
That's the first thing that I noticed too, how it folded on itself or rather wrapped itself up. Queen Anne's Lace is pretty, when growing around other flowers, I think they do each other justice.
Dear Dot, it's been a while, and I'm glad that you're enjoying photography much. =) Sorry about this sudden approach, but I thought of asking for advice over hosting photo-blogs, because I may be starting one on my own. For details, if you'd like to know, will you please check this post below.

I have reservations though, cos I know that the commitment is huge. It's necessary for me to weigh it carefully before I move, so I'll truly appreciate your advice. Please email me at juliatengrs@yahoo.com.sg, and will you please kindly delete this comment later. Thank you very much.
Although the beauty appears to be gone this is still a very lovely photo. Great capture.
Hi Dot,
I saw some Queen Ann's Lace the other day and it was loaded with insects which is remarkable as there has not been any.
Nice photography. I think this is going to be the best Sky Watch Friday yet. The things I have seen are very encouraging and the photography is spot on.
I really admire your photography skills and your critical eye for composition, lighting and texture.

Have a good weekend
I saw a lot of Queen Anne's Lace while we were in Alaska. I don't think I took any pictures of it since it's so common. It is pretty in a way as it goes through the different stages.
A fav flower here in our Meadows
Beautiful.
