Today's Flowers
Last winter I found a big dried pod while out walking and I couldn't find where it came from. This year I found the pods while green.
Look close and you will see vines growing up these two pine trees.
This is the flower growing on the vine. It's called the Trumpet Creeper or Cow Itch because it might cause a mild determatitis in some people.
Today is the debut of Today's Flowers sponsered by Luiz. Pay him a visit to view other flowers and sign Mr. Linky.

yep, it's a good one! I pulled tons of this stuff and Carolina Creeper from my trees in OK. I felt guilty because the hummers love it so. However, so do the bees.
Oh my goodness i have never seen anything like that. Great shot.
I love the color of the flower also the name of it.
Been busy around here. So tired but need a day out getting house bound
I love trumpet creepers, Dot. Nice photo.
We have some growing in our side yard but I've never taken such a nice picture of it!
Thank you for your participation in TODAY'S FLOWERS!

Neato .. and I have seen that flower before and didnt know its name! Thanks for that.
I simply cannot keep track of what photos I have posted on B&W .. so forgive me repetitions and dups to the ones I use on my 'regular' blog .. I would blame age but this ain't a new problem.

Very beautiful flower and vine. Gorgeous color! Nice photos of the blooms.
Thanks for the link to "Today's Flowers". I think I'll put one up on my flower blog.
Our visitors left early this morning; it's so quiet here now without the children - I miss them already. There's a picture on my nature blog.
That's really pretty and it does look like a trumpet. Something I should stay away from. I seem to be allergic to anything that grows lately.
Wonderful flowers :)
Wondered what the name was...seems obvious to call it a trumpet. Nice shot Dot.
Very beautiful. These pods are edible?
Therefore seem appetizing. :o)
I've seen this occasionally but had no idea that it started from a pod--I've seen hummingbirds hovering around them before. Beautiful set of photos!
Thanks for your kind words on my post--and yes I did write the poem a few years back while visiting Custer's battlefield & the badlands.
Happy week!
Think I have heard it called Trumpet Vine around here in these parts. Pretty!
Good pics, Dot...I haven't thought about this vine in many years...probably because I haven' seen it around in a while. A neighbor of my Grandmother use to have it growing in her backyard. Many years ago.
I guess so much development in this area has gotten rid of a lot of things.
I want to grow these too! I never heard it called Cow Itch before though! The hummingbirds and butterflies love these.
I think this flower is also favored by hummingbirds.
How very lovely!
