Lover's Oak

This live oak (located in downtown Brunswick,Georgia) is said to be at least 900 years old. According to legend, this was a meeting place for Native America Lovers. The tree trunk is 13 feet in diameter! For you who don't know...the gray stuff is spanish moss.

Wow, what an oak. I feel like I'm watching Gone with the Wind (wasn't one of the mansions called Twelve Oaks?).

It is simply so big and spectacular that words can never do it justice. All the things it must have lived thru!

P.S. I remember your wheel when you posted on it and was quite happy to find one too.

Spanish Moss is beautiful, and the tree itself is awe-inspiring. I am happy to learn that Spanish Moss is not always fatal.

The most amazing tree I've ever seen. What a beauty. Does some one care for it, and make sure no vandals destroy it?
Love the moss too. Way too cold up here for that.
