Home is Where You Make It

My daughter put this empty Tide box on her back porch and was going to throw it in the garbage later. She noticed later that a bird had built a nest in the box.

Today there were three little eggs in the nest. We are hoping the bird will come back and hatch them.

I hope the little bird will come back. I also hope there are no cats in the area if the box is on the ground?

you probably meant she was going to recycle it instead of throwing it into the garbage, didn't you... and I agree with Judi - 'now that is recycling!' Great find!

How cute!!!! I bet it will come back...you will have to take photos along and share with us. Is it a wren...I can't tell from looking at it. It almost doesn't look like one but I know they will build in anything that is handy.

What's that? Did someone sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar on those eggs? Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Oh how neat, Dot.... Wonder if it is a Carolina Wren??? They love to make nests in things like that. I even heard once that they made a nest in someone's wreath on their door.... Silly Birds....

Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy

That is so cool. How creative of the bird.
My mom had clothes hanging on the line and a bird starting building a nest in the pocket of a pair of pants!! She had to start hanging pants upside down.

Hi Dot, thanks for your kind comments on my Riding on the crest of the wave.
I stood on a small pier out at sea and watched the waves roll by and shot about 100 pics trying to get the right shot as it rolled by, well worth waiting for.

She laid an egg in the nest every night for 5 nights in a row and now she is setting on them pretty good. I am having to stay off of my back porch because she scares easy......that is killing me. I wonder how long it will take for them to hatch? My grand-daughter & I have been watching the bird & her nest. It has been a great learning experience for her. And about recycling....I was going to cut the coupons out....thats about it....dont have a program for that around here. OH and it is a wren everyone. Mama will show pictures of it along & along.
