Little Mouse Ears?

There are many pecan trees in south Georgia. There is a saying that when the trees get leaves the size of little mouse ears it's safe to plant your garden.

Hi Dot, I haven't heard that one before, love it - little mouse ears! A nice older lady who used to have a greenhouse nearby always said not to plant annuals before May 1st, I still go by that advice no matter how warm it gets in April! Have a great day!

That's lot of pecan trees. Looks pretty against the blue sky.
So are you planting your garden today? :-)

How neat -- clever way to remember! Will you plant a garden this year? I wish I had space to plant one.

Then your neighbors to the south could never plant pecan trees. Their famous mouse in Orlando has really big ears! Too bad for them, but good for you. :-)

Really? I have never heard of that, but it sounds good to me. I just discovered today that my blueberry plant is starting to sprout leaves. It was just a stick for the last or so.

Neat, Dot... I love seeing the "Little Mouse Ears" on the Pecan trees. SO--are you saying that SPRING is here for sure??????? It's cold up here tonight... Hopefully it won't get THAT cold though.
Hugs,
Betsy

Cute about the mouse ears. My DH use to say that Cold weather was around till the Pecan trees budded out.
I've been planting veggies & things since the middle of March. Down here you gotta get a jump on the hot weather.

At the orchard, there was something about leaves the size of a squirrel's ears...but I can't remember exactly what. It had to do with the dormant oil, I think.

Must be time to plant! I love the old sayings. The old-timers were very wise.
