We raised tobacco all my growing up years...I can remember before we got a tobacco setter my brothers setting it out by hand....I dropped the plants for them:)
I so wish I had had a camera to take photos of the different aspects of growing it and grading it and getting it ready for market.
I never saw such wide fields of tobacco! that's so green! I have a (surely stupid) question:when tobaco is still a leaf, does it already smell like a cigarette?..
I would not have known, looking at this field, that it was tobacco. I don’t think they grow tobacco in France, so I am not familiar with the plant. My husband gave up smoking this year after decades but he says he thinks about smoking every day.
If cigarettes keep going up, I'm going to have to grow my own tobacco. Maybe. I've almost quit now because I'm too cheap to keep paying $5.00 a pack everyday.
This brings back memories. I remember as a teen on vacations with my parents down south seeing all the tobacco fields and the drying barns/sheds. I remember the cotton fields too. Have a great week-end Dot. B.
So that's what a tobacco field looks like. We have a lot of old tobacco barns here but no tobacco fields here in Southwest Wisconsin where we now live.

Wonderful photos...I'm one of those who is glad it's still being grown. Born & raised in NC and still partake in the dangerous habit.
So remember seeing those fields in rural GA and I now see them in rural NC.
Mother your late on the bakka...you need peanuts, cotton, taters......and PECANS!! LOL!
A lot of smokes on that field, I suppose tobacco plants only grow in a warm climate. Nothing like that here. Nice shots.
Wonder how many cigarettes will come out of all that?!!!
I never think of tobacco fields . . . so it was interesting to see them even if I don't like what they produce in the long run.
I cut many sticks of tobacco and hung a lot of tobacco in barns when I was growning up.

Very nice shades of green in your shots, Dot. I had never seen tobacco fields in my whole life!
Beautiful images!
I remember tobacco fields from the Eastern Shore,
now they are mostly abandoned and only the barns are left to fend against the forces of time.
How cool! These always fascinate me.

Merry Christmas, Dot, to you and yours!
Those tobacco fields look the same as they did some months ago, maybe they need water, lol

Great shots! Many people have never seen tobacco growing.
