Prater's Mill

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
This used to be quite a little industry. There was a sawmill, gristmill, cotton gin, wood corder, blacksmith shop, general store, and hotel. The mill closed in the 1950's but I understand it's still functional and it runs twice a year when they hold arts and crafts festivals on the property.

I have seen a lot of these types of buildings in parts of WVa and Ohio and Indiana....interesting that they represent a part of life that is really no more isn't it?

I like this building! :) I would love to go in and do some exploring sometime. By the way, I noticed the different look to your site - very nice! :)

Are all buildings in you place made of wood, or at least the most?
You changed the layout and it works, to make a frame around the photo and a background is much more complicated. But you can always change the background colors etc.

The picture seems fine to Old Womtig here in the UK...
I like the look of these old mills, and I could spend some time rummaging around there, thats for sure.

Thanks Dick! It was a few things you told me that helped me to catch on.
Buildings over here are made of different things. I guess it depends where they are and what is available to build with.

Nice photo. I am glad it still works. We need more examples of yesteryear.

Thanks for your visits to my blogs.

I could not see the picture this morning. I was gone all day with church, a baptism and more church. Tonight I am able to see the picture. Nice old building. I am sure when some look at this building they could tell some old stories about it.
