American Bald Eagle
A few weeks ago when I visited my daughter in south Georgia, we were traveling near the town of Hoboken when we spotted this eagle. (This is in the Okeefenokee Swamp area) He flew around then perched on top of this power pole and we were able to get a few pictures. These eagles were listed as "endangered" back in the 1970's but due to various programs to bring them back there were over 100 eagle nests spotted in Georiga last year.

Dot, can you believe that you got this photo? I'll bet you feel mighty good every time you look at it. Wow.
Thanks for your visit to my blog. I appreciate your comments especially since you take such excellent sky photos yourself.
Great shot!
I`m glad the programs helped and that more of them are observed.
You are very lucky that got this capture. :)
Wow! I would really like to see this eagle, great shot!
wow, how lucky you were! that is beautiful. Vermont has NO breeding eagles! I think we are the only state that does not have any (or something), so the state is working hard to entice them over from New Hampshire. I hope it works.
Wow! What a stunning picture! I wouldn't call him bald though...especially if he was listening!
Dx
wow great capture dot.well spotted :]
wonderful photo...where I live eagles are abundant...I was running the other day and I heard their call...and just above the two majestic birds were perched on top of the tree....there is a place not far down the road from me....last year ....we counted 30 in two trees...can you believe it...it was an amazing site to behold....
Wow!
This is a great capture, I would have smiled from ear to ear if I took this.
I'm so glad to hear about their come back..
Wow... that is cool!

Lovely photo. We have a few bald Eagle here in the Temagami, Ontario area.
Great picture. He is an attractive one. You were at the right place at the right time for that shot. Good job Dot!
WOW! Beautiful shot!
Wow Oh Wow! How neat to be able to see an eagle in the wild! What a photo to treasure!
Lucky for you to see the eagle and get such a good photo of it. Lucky for us that you shared it with us. :-)
Magnificent looking fellow. Looks very much like our fish eagle.
The photo is excellent. I really like these birds.
The closest thing I have had in my yard was a crow. I liked them but they were here only once.
I would probably have a stroke if a Golden Eagle landed.
Let freedom ring!
Boy Dot. You must carry that camera everywhere! (smile) I'm glad you do!
Great shot and you took it, I see another bird in the background too.
WOW!! you were so lucky to catch him there. We have several here around my area. some are nesting in the local state park...Havent been able to see them yet though..
I have never saw an eagle in the wild. Let alone near a town.
How amazing, I've only ever seen them in zoos or bird sanctuaries
Magnificent photo! Magnificent bird.
I just saw your comment, over in a Norwegian photo blog. {Or was it in their second one????} Anyway, you were needing a translation site on line. I know, it's hard. I used to correspond with a Norwegian man and had a translation program. But that was for my old Pc.
I'll keep looking and if I find one, I hope I remember where to pass it on. {hope to, as in my mind is like a sieve at times! -grin-} I checked the free translation I use now, but nope... no Norwegian. Will keep looking. :-)

You are to get this one and the eagle looks handsome. ;)

Wow! What a lovely picture of the American Bald Eagle!
Awesome! We recently looked at some property not far from Hoboken...
This is a wonderful close up shot of an eagle!! :) Excellent job!! :)
He is so beautiful!
On the UK "Who wants to be a Millionaire?" last night one question was "What do Bald Eagles live on?"
a) corn
b) fish
c) insects
d) seaweed
She got the right answer - can't remember if it was for £10000 or £20000 - she went on to win £150,000
