It looks like a barn spider. We have them here too. They are a very important part of the natural chain of prey and predators.Nice photo too.

A great shot Dot! :)
So clear.
I am using a program called Picasa (Google) when making my collages.
It`s for free.

I don't like bugs and this one is big, scary, and mean. He sure doesn't need a costume to frighten anyone.

Hello again Dot.
I understand your English perfectly well. :)
Languages and English was my favorite subjects at school. :)
But at the same time, i don`t have the same vocabulary as you natives. ;)

When i make make my collages i am using a picture as background.
I have four alternatives.
White, black, grey or a background picture.
When choosing background picture, Picasa itself uses one of the images as background.
It`s easy.
I hope you understand....?

I spent ages trying to photograph a spider this weekend, but was not happy with the results. I guess I will have to be more patient.
Nice shot

a photographer told me that webs have to be "backlighted": so I've been trying to get the sun behind them and still it doesn't work well! Perhaps we should buy lights? LOL

The spider is so awesome! (all mine are gone for the season).
