There are several of these drain covers in a new subdivision near where I live. I was surprised to see where they came from. After doing a google search I found that most man hole covers are manufactured in India.

Well I'm learning something new...I had no idea that manhole covers are made in India! I'm going to have to check ours to see if they're from India as well! lol Need to have the snow melt off the streets first! I'm so loving the photo in your previous post...it really does look like a man holding up his hand!! xox

I was surprised to see that too. Our drain hole covers or man hole covers are made in this area in a foundry in Dayton, Ohio.

I will have to check with my husband and see where their manholes were made. He uses them sometimes on his jobs.

It doesnt even look like a man hole. Doesnt it have to be politicly correct now.....shouldnt it be called a "Human Hole" or a "Person Hole"? Hey that sounds nasty....maybe they should call it a "Underground Hole". That sounds better!
many things used in our country are made by the poorest people on earth.
That it is rusty is not a good sign I would think..?
I believe the PC term now is maintenance hole covers...how silly.
They will always be manholes to me..!

Cheep imports Dot, I see lots of stuff like this and I can't for the life of me see how it could be cheeper to make and import stuff like this. Our workers and I'm sure yours could do the job.

Learned something new again. I really like this photo. Maybe the texture, maybe the shape. But it all comes together perfectly. It's a very plain cover; I'm used to ornate ones.

Very typical in today's global economy where manufacturing moves to the cheapest area with sufficient labor, lax enviromental laws, and tax & tarrif friendly.
I work for a global mfg. co. We are now moving some product fabrication from Europe to the US because the recent drop in the value of the dollar has lowered the cost here, go figure!
