Doves

Occasionally doves come and feed on the ground underneath my feeder. I'm not sure if this was the same dove or two different ones.

Whenever I see doves, they seem to come in pairs. Nice photos since they are hard to capture without flying away.

There's two Dove that have spent the winter around the street this year. The last few weeks I have heard them calling and cooing. Hopefully they will nest nearby. I hope where ever the did nest is safe as we have many cats on the stree.

He looks like he needs a bath! I'm so used to thinking doves are suposed to be white and seeing them this color is interesting... what a great photo!!

We have doves (four or six, I'm not quite sure how many) in our neighbourhood too. They live under the cedars in my back yard and feed on the seed that other birds toss out of our feeders. They're beautiful but not too bright. ;-) And quite tame! I can get quite close to them before they fly away. They ARE afraid of all the neighbourhood cats, though!

Whoa. All that blue makeup around the eyes... Didn't that go out of style in the 70's??

My mother hates doves. They coo outside her bedroom window and wake her up. I think they look soft.

I have never seen gray doves before! Only white ones. Actually, I have never seen any color of doves in person.

Are those very tame doves or were they taken with a long lens, Dot?

PS: My Sky Watch post is up. It's a bit different from the normal SWF posts that I do - you'll see why.

When you post yours, would you mind adding mine to Mister Linky please?

In my country the morning doves, they have open grey colour.
The fable says that she was sometimes a new girl of age of 18 years very beautiful, somebody high commissioner in the courtyard of some Sultan it wanted him it makes his, this resisted because loved some young man, then he with a rope him drowned.
She his shouted him it releases because it was hardly 18 years.
Then the soul of girl became this bird.
Each time where it removes this sad sound, shouts her age: eighteen, eighteen, eighteen.
For this reason in female dove exists round the neck a black strip, while in male no.
Apology if spoiled to moment your disposal, but i I recounted as long as more painlessly it became the.... fable!

I think doves are so pretty, even though birds tend to freak me out a little! Must have been that Alfred Hitchcock movie when I was a child!

Great photos...

Looks like two different doves, due to the small feathers under the eye on one of them.

I so love Mourning Doves...we have them here all the time, even through the winter months. Just this morning I counted 18 of them at the feeder and resting in the pine trees at the back of the house:-) xox

I haven't seen much of these around lately. I'm sure they're hiding from the cold.
