These are great blooms Dot.. I missed the ant at first. I'm feel better today and I would like to thank you for your concern.. I have posted on your Picture This blog as well today.. good luck with this series, I am looking forward to seeing the pictures.
I wish I could bury my nose in those blooms. Mmmm. I love the scent. No buds on MY peonies that I've noticed yet, but the leaves are up so that's a good sign. I imagine the local ants here are starting to get as excited as the one you photographed. ;-)
I remember these flowers as a little girl with tons of ants always crawling all over them so I always stayed away from them... LOL... but these are very pretty!!
I have an old pink double peony bush that I bought and planted about 40 years ago and since then I have tried my best to dig it up and out and get rid of it but each time I failed and new shoots came up. So this last time I just forgot it and left it there and it has remained, undisturbed, in the same spot for about 20 years. And this year it is huge and absolutely covered with buds ready to pop open.
I took some pictures of the buds today but will follow up with more photos when they open.
Your photographs are very nice. And I like your white better than my double pink.

Beautiful! I have a fushia pink one--and it just has buds right now.
Wonder why ants love them so? I think I have read the reason but can't remember.
They are one of my favorite flowers, so beautifl and smells devine.
I have never seen a peony. Yours are just beautiful and I've heard they smell wonderful!

Lovely. Packed full of petals.
These are beautiful! You're a little ahead of us and now I can hardly wait for mine to bloom and see if I have ants on mine too.

Pretty! I especially liked the first shot where you focused on the back bud some...and oh yes, had the ant visitor.

Dot: You have capured the Peony perfectly. They are a beautiful flower.
I have a white and pink Peony and they are about 2 feet high and have are still growing. It will be a while before we see flowers.
Very well captured. Sometimes photos don't do justice to the subject. Your photos have done it.
So beautiful. I see the ant too.
Oh Dot those are some great photos, i love them too, but have no green thumb to grow them, actually no plants survive too long in my hands

White Peonies are my favorite flowers! I don't even mind the ants!
What wonderful pictures of such a beautiful flower. I have never had peonies.
Peonies are spectacular - especially up close! Mine aren't even budding yet!
Hi! I came over from Skywatch and WOW - LOVE this series and also the roses in a previous post.
Beautiful photography!
Just beautiful Dot!!
Great shots. My wife really enjoyed looking at these. They are such beautiful flowers.
Beyond words! Awesome!
Absolutely beautiful -- our Iris are just blooming now. Have to hunt for peonies I guess but not in this heat -- 97 today.
I love those flowers. Thre're my favorite. In France, we call them "Pivoine".
The first one is beautiful! Especially with the little ant on it.
The petals are so luscious looking and so real I can smell them!
