Sky Watch Friday

I found this water tower in the little town of Tallapoosa, Georgia. It't very close to the Alabama state line. For more sky pictures visit Tom.

I think this water tower style is the one most used throughout the US. I know we had one like it until recently when the city fathers and one mother decided to build a new one. And when it was up and working they cut the other one up into pieces and it came down.

This makes a nice sky watch photo with the sky and trees.

So what does Tallapoosa mean, I wonder? I'm guessing it shares something in common with Tallahassee... hmm... The City of Tallapoosa site on georgia.gov says the city's name means "Golden Water." Tallahassee means "Old Town" or "Abandoned Fields". So I guess they aren't related at all. Different Indian dialect, I suppose, in spite of the common sound (us white folk probably spelled something wrong anyway!). :)
