Mimosas are blooming all over in Georgia. Some folks hate them because they spread so quickly and easily but the humming birds and bees love them. The flowers smell so sweet!

I meant to ask you if you have noticed the Mimosa trees are fuller and brighter this year than usual. There are several in a yard about a mile from us that I have been wanting to stop and take a picture of. Looks like you beat me to the Mimosa Tree post.
Trash tree or not, I think they're beautiful, and they *do* smell so good. We had a Mimosa 'blight' of some sort here several years ago, and a lot of our Mimosa trees just died. I miss them.

Whenever I see a mimosa tree I always think of my wonderful grandparents, Grandma Mae and Grandpa Jim. They lived in California, MO and had two of the most magnificent mimosa trees in the back yard.
Thank you for the very wonderful memories. Here in Connecticut,mimosa's are few and far between!

Around here, mimosas are yellow, their flowers are like little bowls, and they bloom during the winter, in january and february!
This is one ree I'd love to grow here. Now that's a reason to move to Georgia, eh?

That was a great spider web, it almost looks artificial, I havnt seen them for sale at Wal-mart.

Great pictures. The mimosas are in full bloom here too. They do make a mess when they drop. It's amazing how they propogate so readily even during drought conditions! Daddy calls them 'volunteers'. I enjoy your blog!

This is a gorgeous tree, Dot. Even its name is pretty. I wouldn't hate them since they're favorites of the hummingbirds. I hope you will be able to take some pictures of the hummingbirds as well before they dart away.
I love Mimosa Trees. I remember when I was young my sister and I would climb the trees and make little houses and pick the flowers for people - we had great imaginations (before the days of toy "Little People" and Weebles and air conditioning). We played outside all day. So everytime I see one of those trees happy memories of days gone by are brought back. Beautiful trees and picture!

wow dot, this is a beauty. My mom used to refer to trees with tiny compound leaves and little yellow puff ball flowers as mimosas. All I remember is they gave me terrible allergies as a kid!

Mimosa Trees are real pretty, but I don't have any in my yard. A few years back, I remember someone saying that Mimosa'a were used as medicine. I couldn't remember the details, so I looked it up just now.
Check this out:

Powdered tepezcohuite bark contains large amounts (16%) of tannins, which act as an astringent, making the skin stop bleeding. This helps protect the body from infection, while the skin's intricate cellular machinery repairs DNA and builds new protective tissue.

I haven't noticed the ones around here blooming yet. I have them coming up in my yard as weeds and just mow them down.

I have been seeing them in bloom I love this tree also.....we have a couple that comes back every year but hubby cut's them down while they are a small.....To bad they spread.....The kudzu has it started blooming yet?

I have heard of Mimosa but have never seen it. It is really beautiful!
About eight years ago we were on Vacation and I saw the most beautiful tree with pink blossoms. We looked around and found a small one growing under the tree. My husband dug it up for me and we brought it home and potted it. It is about twelve feet tall now and has bloomed out beautifully. I saved some Pods from last year. I have seventeen Pods left that I will mail to you if you send me your address. Just plant them in a Pot and watch them grow until they are large enough to plant outside.
