This is known to me as Turk's Cap although it has several other names. It's native to Texas and Mexico. If it wasn't easy to grow it wouldn't be in my yard! Visit Luiz to sign Mr. Linky and see beautiful flowers from around the world.
Hi, Dot I love the flowers simple and easy to grow, and the red is my favorite. Thanks for sharing so much beauty. have a happy Today's Flowers. hugs, Denise
Beautiful, and a new one for me. I've been thinking I need some red in my garden, but have been too lazy to do anything about it. Maybe I'll get a volunteer, and won't have to decide.
These are really striking in color and presentation.
We had the tail end of Hurricane Ike here all day. I lost my cherry tree and a lot of limbs. The neighbors lost three trees and they fell on a power line and that weight broke the power pole. Not a good day here in SW Ohio.
Dot those are stunning. I have been trying to remember to ask you what kind of camera do you use? and what settings to get all these wonderful photos. Every time I visit your blog I am blown away by what fantastic photos you have. Can you please share your secrets with me.
I admire the red. I have a real problem getting my camera to capture red. This looks like a hibiscus but I've never seen one with the center sticking out so far from the bud like this one. Nice shots!
Oh my, what a gorgeous flower, and one I have never seen before. I do love that shade of red. A beautiful photo and thank you so much for stopping by my blog.
Oh so pretty. I just joined Today's Flowers and starting floating around the blog garden. It is so nice to be able to click around and view such wonderful pictures.
I love the bug picture. Don't you love that moment when camera is in hand and you get the shot. Great.

These photos have so much clarity, I feel like I could touch them and feel the texture of the leaves...

Dot, my real name is Quintino Ferreira Pinto, that's why I decided to use the last two and stop the Quinttarantino stuff.
What a beautiful flower !

The turk's head is so interesting looking! I've never seen one before but it looks like it might be related to the hibiscus. Nice photo,
You seem to have grown them well - and done your pictures well too. The red is a difficult colour.
If you like a white weed, have a look at my site.
It appears to me as though somebody lanced a rose. Poor rose.
How dramatic the structure of this flower is. I have seen this before and appreciate its beauty post here.

Hi Dot,
I know this flower but don't have any of them! I remember them from my early childhood in Miami, Fl (Actually, south Dade co, not the city)
I see them growing around our town here, too!! I should get me one!!
