The Alabama Band

Last year these statues were placed in City Park in downtown Fort Payne to honor the country music band Alabama. The band split up in 2003.

Those statues are incredible! difficult to imagine how much they can be popular, to have such a monument! And I guess they are still alive?.. The point is that, here, nobody , even being famous , would accept to have all those private informations on a wall of fame (name of parents, place of birth, etc..). For me both the pictures and the statues are an "odd shot"!

I enjoyed your photos, Dot, and reading about the members of the band. I am not at all a fan of C&W music, but I voluntarily bought one of Alabama's CDs just so I could listen to "Forever's as far as I'll go" as many times as I liked (which was a lot.) Must have been a strange phase I was going through.:)

Dot: What a great band, I'm a fan for sure. I love the last line on the first one. That combines two things close to my heart.

What a shame they split up. But nothing lasts forever.

Oh, I loved these, Dot! I love Alabama!!! Thanks for sharing this. I used to be a member of their fan club but they had my zip code wrong so I always got the latest info late. I have seen them in concert several times. In Columbus, GA and several other places nearby. Columbus was special because after my date dropped me off, I grabbed my mom & we went back to the auditorium, were almost the last in line but got kisses from Teddy, Randy & Mark plus an autographed poster that still hangs in my old room at my mom's! Got good pics of Randy in a teal blue velour running suit! Thanks for bringing back that wonderful memory. Hope to go to Ft. Payne one of these days...
