The Old Mill at Berry College
Berry college is located in North West Georgia next to the city of Rome. The campus is the worlds largest with approx 28,000 acres. There is a lot to see!!
A close look at the slate stone roof.
Folks this is the roof not the steps!!
I wonder if she married him. He carved the same message on both doors of the mill house.

What a lovely old mill! I've never seen such a big water wheel.
42 feet diameter is like huge! Awesome. I hope she did marry him and they are still together today.
What an interesting place! I especially like the stairs photo after the water wheel one. It is good to see you addin to your blog again.
What an impressive wheel!
I like the two stories side to side: the Great one (the mill , the college)and the private one(will she marry him?..)
A single place and so many stories..
That looks like a lovely place to visit. Your photos are wonderful!
A grand old mill and so glad it was preserved by the historical society. Had a girlfriend who went to Berry College.
I've always just loved pictures of old mills. I also just love to visit them in person, especially if they're grinding corn and I get to smell the scent.
Oh wow .. that wheel .. those steps ... cool shots, dot!
What a lovely place to visit. Really looks interesting.
Wow, I'd love to visit Berry College. Love all your photos, Dot.
What a beautiful old mill. What a huge water wheel - I've never seen one so big.
What a water wheel! Cool pictures :)
Have a great holiday weekend!
I LOVE your blog. I have always wanted to live in GA. I'll probably never get there on a permanent basis, but now I can stroll through it with you. Wonderful photos. I especially liked the photos and story about Betty and Billy Buzzard. Amazing, necessary birds! I'll be back.
Interesting place, nice pictures too.
He carved it in both doors? He must have loved her very much, maybe he still does!!!!!!
Love your photos!
Great place to visit.
Thank you.
What a wonderful old mill!
I love that first shot. All that stone is simply beautiful!
Love these photos, but that last image really creates an emotion. Wonderful that you found it, and even better that you shared these images with everyone. Nice!
Oh how neat, Dot... I've been to Rome --but never knew about Berry College or this old mill. I want to see that in person one of these days. I LOVE it. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Dot. I love that water wheel it's humongous and the photo is gorgeous. Looks like a nice place to visit and explore. I've heard of Berry College but never been there.
Glad you posted!!!
I went to Berry College years ago to take many pictures but this was with an old camera and I don’t know where the prints are. Your post reminded me of this wonderful place and I shall go there this fall to take new pictures with my digital camera. Thanks for posting about this mill.
Beautiful old mill! I can't believe that is the roof! Great blog Dot!
Oh, Dot, these are wonderful pictures! I would love to see that in real life.
This mill is so well preserved. Last weekend, I visited a mill in Northern Ontario. Built in 1833, the building still looks great but the wheel is long gone, so this one impresses me.
Great photos Dot.
The mill wheel is huge. It's wonderful that they have preserved it. The building looks so solid, like it will never be moved. I hope it never is.
Glad to see you're back! That is a huge wheel. An odd place to carve a proposal. Keep looking, maybe there is a "yes" answer somewhere on that wall. :D
Hi Dot! These are some cool pictures - That mill is really pretty in the woods like that. Hope all is well & you & hubby are doing great!
Beautiful shots. I miss you. I have tried emailing you several times in the last few months with no reply back. Please email me.
What a beautiful place to be with your camera Dot. You got some lovely photos. It looks like a very interesting place to visit.
Beautiful Mill Dot! Hope you are doing well!
Lovely building. This post is a great coverage of the college.
Have a nice weekend.

Dot: What a neat capture of the mill, wonderfully shown.
Thanks for the visit.
This is a wonderful post Dot. Beautiful pictures, and what a great service these students did way back then.
I lost your Blog site, and I' glad to have found it again.
B.
As soon as I can make it to Rome (I've something planned for there anyway)hopefully I can stop by and see the mill. That wheel is impressive! Makes me wonder how big the wheels were at Roswell and New Manchester...
Good shots, Dot!
[I bet she married him..:)]
I have visited your blog and enjoyed it. I will visit more often. Thanks so much for sharing.
Your area sure is pretty. Our cotton fields look the same way here in SE Georgia (Pierce county). I posted about how lovely the fall flowers are here a day or two ago. Just wish it would cool off. Whew, it's hot for October! :)
I had a classmate at graduate school who graduated from Berry College. Your photos gave me a chance to google more information about that school.
