Sky Watch Friday/ Spiderman??

Not long ago my friend Andrea asked me if I'd ever taken a picture and found something I didn't expect. While in south Alabama a few weeks ago I took a picture of this water tower while standing in the middle of a Winn Dixie parking lot. When I got home and loaded the pictures onto my laptop I didn't even notice what I had caught. Later when looking at the pictures again I saw the man but wondered if that was really what I saw. It's much smaller on the lap top. I showed the picture to my brother and he thought it was a man too but my sister said no it was something to let the air out of the tank. So the next time I went into this town I checked the water tower and there was nothing there. Then when I got home to Georgia and enlarged the pictures I could definately see the man up there. He must have been doing some kind of repair work.

Really very strange photograph, I did not believe that these towers of water are so much big, but also are astonished with the person-spider, rather as skier appear!

Craver Vii said...

That's more than a little scary. I wouldn't do it. Not because I'm afraid of heights, though. A fall from that height won't kill most people... just that sudden stop at the very end.

'Water' shot that is... ha!
I like the idea it was something to let the air out... that made me chuckle Dot.

Whoa, dot! I'm glad I don't have a job like that! :D

My dad used to paint things like water towers, grain elevators, smokestacks... it's not inherited, though, as I'm afraid of heights!!

Great shot!! :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

LOL. I liked your story. That made your photo even better. Good thing he had a safety wire!

How fun good catch

Front Porch Society said...

Whoa! Now that is one brave man!! No way would you ever for any reason find me up there!!

Gattina said...

I saw the man even without reading your post, he is attached to a safety cord, but what I noticed is more the name of the tank that's too funny because a "minette" is a little cat in french or also a sexy girl but not in a flattering way, lol !

kay said...

Dot, thanks for visiting me. Yes, we are relatively close. I'm in Dothan in the southeast corner of AL. I can see from your map where you are. I stumbled on your site, and I have loved the photographs. I am a photography newbie, and I have only a point and shoot sort of camera--Canon SD 1000---but I want to learn to "see" things. I think the Sky Watch community is a great place to do that.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I have to tell you that when you mentioned kudzo, my heart sank. I lived in Dunwoody Georgia for one year. I fell in love with it within two weeks. I know the problem kudzo was back in 1982, not sure what it's doing now. But my heart is in Georgia, and I'm so glad I found you, or perhaps you found me. I'll be visiting again!

oh and by the way, that guy up there. I know exactly what you mean. I took a picture of a flower once, and couldn't figure out what the dot was on the flower, when I enlarged it 300 fold, I found the tiniest of spiders. Your man on the water tower reminded me of my itsy bitsy spider.
